Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October 21st, 2016, she released Pho, her debut EP for the label Dreamville Records. This was when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music online in the year 2012 when she launched her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. She continued to release her music on the web, including her own launched single Bound. In the year 2015, she was featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, performing the track Sweat It Out on 21st July. In the following year, her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him for some possible references for Rihanna. The news was released on December 8th that she had made an agreement with Dreamville Records. The Album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat with Cozz. She dropped Pho, her debut album on October 21, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. The following year, she went on to be a guest on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang with Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. In November, the singer released singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13, she released two additional singles entitled No One as well as Pdigree. She appeared with Cole on The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on the 16th of November, and made the track available as a single by herself for Her debut album. A music video was released on the 20th February of 2019 to go along with the track. Within one week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. In December 2018 she took part in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
